If time could stand still

I don't know if it's pregnancy or what that is making me so sentimental. Over the 4th of July weekend my heart was so full of love for my family. We had an amazing three days of just spending time with each other. I found myself wishing time and time again that I could just freeze those moments and make them last forever. I have realized my son is growing up so quickly and there is nothing I can do to stop it. Sometimes I don't want to because it is so fun to watch him grow and learn. His vocabulary is getting bigger and bigger and so are his sentences.

It's really the simple moments in life that make me the happiest. The following pictures are of such simple times...One of Franklin's favorite activities is to take all the couch cushions off the couch and jump onto them. He can do that for hours at a time. It's even better without clothes. Franklin loves to be naked and I love to hear him say the word naked. One day I changed his diaper and he kept asking if he could be naked, so I said yes (because what is cuter than a naked baby?). So here he is hiding behind the couch cushions, popping his head up in time to snap a "cheesy" photo. He's getting good at that "cheese" of a smile.

My next simple moment was at the Zoo. We bought a year membership and have already got our money's worth in memories. Franklin has known many animal names and sounds for quite some time. He knew what sounds the animals could make even before he could say the animals' names. Now he can do both and it tickles our heartstrings so much to watch him see an animal at the zoo, say it's name (or species) and then make the animal's sound. He Looooooooovves animals and we love seeing that love in his eyes. His favorite, by far, is the Elephant. The Snake comes in second (weird, right?) and the rhinos, monkeys, and giraffes a close third.

Lastly I want to write about another little thing that makes me want to freeze time. The little hand prints. I have never been upset at Franklin for leaving his handprints anywhere. He leaves them on our windows, and mirrors and on the dinner table. One day I gave him a bite-size candy bar, watched him pop it in his mouth, and eat it. Well I thought he ate it. A few minutes later I walked into our bedroom only to find bits and pieces of it on the floor and a perfect chocolate handprint on our pillow and a few smudged prints on our sheets. I guess the kid doesn't like Milky Ways...Knowing his hands weren't going to be so little forever, I had to take a picture.
